Xombie Chapter 10

"Absolutely Godawful"

submission: Xombie Chapter 10

Maybe 5 or 6 episodes ago when at least the animation was good, you had potential.

Since when did Newgrounders abandon creative animation for cliche ease-tweened crap? You get a flamboyantly gay thumbs up from me for the sound design, but the rest of this is just disgusting.

"Everything happens for a reason."
"Even us?"
"Even us."

I literally vomited all over my computer monitor after hearing this dialogue. How did your voiceactors keep a straight while reading this? Trying to make your viewers assume that this is "deep" or "meaningful" to compensate for a nauseatingly vague and disconnected plot is not the right idea.

Appealing to 5 year olds may be the best way to make money and sell merchandise but it sure is embarrassing to see this at the top of Newgrounds' animation list. You're clearly a creative person with some animating skill; you have the potential to create something great that you could be proud of, instead of this garbage.

Madness Termination

"Terrible"

date: May 29, 2007

"all you bloody-movie fanatics should leave now"? Perhaps you've never actually watched the original Madness movies...The fact that you can't animate blood or are too lazy to animate blood should stop you from even starting to make a movie like this. Blood effects are the only possible way to make madness-themed animation unique, considering you've already copied the theme of all of Krinkles' other graphics.

Also, overused ease-tweening looks terrible. Wow, you discovered how to use the ease modification of a motion tween. All you did was ease the character's movements in, and ease out, and ease in again, and ease out all across the screen instead of taking five seconds to do some realistic FBF movement. Obviously I'm not saying you should redraw the character each frame, just move his hands/body part manually once in a while. Like what Krinkels does. It's not like you have arms/legs to animate in the process.

For a Madness movie to be considered "average" among other non-Madness movies, it should be BETTER than the norm, or at least stand out as unique (in a good way). This is probably below the average Madness remake, making it, overall, a truly godawful flash movie.

Endless Zombie Rampage

"Slow Paced"

date: May 11, 2007

I bought a G36 and lost motivation...

I seriously think the game would be better if you sped it up a little. I don't think you'd even necessarily have to make it harder, just make the reload times for most guns faster and make the playing field bigger, with more zombies. The gameplay would be less monotonous of you added barriers and walls to the playing field, then randomized them before each level. That way, you'd have a different environment to adapt to each time.

You should also add a button that lets people turn the moaning ambiance off so I can listen to music at the same time.

The Last Stand.

"cool but dissapointing"

submission: The Last Stand.

The menu system is awesome, and the transitions between the decision selections are great. You should put some focus into the menu, but not to the extent that you run into problems with the gameplay itself. It's just not fun. I guess you get +originality points for at least changing the "Defend your Castle" genre ever so slightly, but it still plays like every single other game like this I have ever played. You could have mixed up the gameplay up so many different ways, but no. It's the same stationary camera looking at a nonchanging background where nearly identical enemies come at you from one direction, and you click on them as fast as you can from a different direction.

An awesome menu system is great but it can't trick me into thinking that I'm having fun.

Virus Alert - "Weird Al"

"jafsgablad"

date: May 9, 2007

Really good animation and stuff here so... thats a plus. Unfortunately, something about this song started to make my ears bleed. But that's not really your fault.

The 'humor' of the song was not strong enough to compensate for its annoyingness. I don't understand why a computer virus eating wallpaper or shitting on people or whatever happened is funny. The only funny thing here is your animation: characters lighting themselves on fire and stuff happened. That actually might never have happened. I can't remember.

If Al had cut out (or at least stopped repeating) the "ITS A... VIIIYRAHS ALERT!!!! -- NAH NAH NAU NAHN UAAUNA" part of the chorus it would have improved the song over five thousand percent.

Smash 2

"cool"

submission: Smash 2
date: March 27, 2007

After looking at the image preview, I thought, "Why the fuck would anyone ever make another breakout game?" I'm not really sure why I decided to play it, but I guess I was gladly surprised that you had mixed the genre up a little bit. The directional/diagonal blurring on the paddle was actually very cool.

The only bug I ran into was that even when your ball goes out of bounds, if you have the "gun" powerup, you can keep holding down the mouse, and as long as you keep shooting tiles, your combo will go up indefinitely and you won't lose. I only tried this in marathon mode though, it may be different for the other mode.

Would it be possible in Smash 3 or whatever to add a quality control that changes the quality of the blurfilter? (unless you already had it set on the lowest quality).

Author's Response:

As Wonchop pointed out in his review, this is the "port mortem recovery" feature (although you only see that message if you stay alive for over 3 seconds after you lose the ball). This is by design and not a bug. It allows you to keep scoring even after you mess up. ;) Thanks for letting us know, though. It could have been a bug!

The blur filter is already on low quality. If your game is lagging, I suggest pausing the game via the spacebar and turning effects off.

Xombie: Chapter 9

"eehhhhhhhh"

submission: Xombie: Chapter 9
date: March 14, 2007

Even those of us who never liked the story were still able to appreciate the animation, but this lacked both.

I know that appealing to the child/preteen demographic is what sells these days, but this had the potential to be interesting. Now it's just formulaic and uninteresting; obviously at the start of the next episode he's going to jump over that enemy guy and those machineguns are going to kill it.

Dialogue in which a zombie apologizes to a little girl for "swearing" (in this case, "damn") makes me want to vomit. I know it's your series and obviously you can do whatever the hell you want with it, but please, out of respect for yourself, stop alienating your 12+ year-old fanbase.

Obviously I disagree with basically everyone else here.

You have such amazing animation skills, it makes me sad that you keep making things as uninteresting and unfunny as this movie. The animation and graphics are awesome, the camera angles are awesome, the style is original, everything is great except the theme of these movies. The only somewhat bad animations in the entire movie were those of the dog, rhino and lizard chasing him for some reason. I don't understand why you put so much effort into a movie failing at being "cute", like a rabbit trying to buttfuck a cat or whatever is going on here. This movie obviously has an extremely high production value, but the end result is much less entertaining to watch because it revolves around a cheesy, awkwardly unfunny, and horrifyingly predictable theme.
